What Is FLOC?FLOC, For Love Of Children, is an ecumenical task force that advocates with elected officials on behalf of children. FLOC members try to raise awareness on childrens issues in their congregations and in the community at large and to be advocates with public officials for policies beneficial to all children, especially the children of Bucks County and Pennsylvania. Child care, welfare reform, medical and dental care, gun control, and violence are issues of special concern to FLOC. Networking with other groups, FLOC members helped establish the Bucks County Dental Project to provide dental care for uninsured poor children. And FLOC is currently working with national and statewide coalitions on these issues: child care, welfare reform medical insurance for poor children, and funding for nutrition programs. FLOCs Tooth Fairy Kits use items donated by local groups and congregations to provide attractive bags filled with dental and health care necessities to needy local children through school nurses. FLOC members currently come from these Lower Bucks Congregations: Bethlehem A.M.E., Langhorne; Langhorne United Methodist; St. John the Evangelist Peace and Justice Committee; Lower Makefield; Scottsville United Methodist; United Christian, Levittown; Yardley United Methodist. FLOC has affiliates in many other congregations and in the community on whom call for help with advocacy. Would you, your group, or your congregation like to advocate with FLOC? FLOC is sponsored by the Lower Bucks Center for Church and Community, an ecumenical body which aims to bring Christians and congregations together across denominational, racial, social, and economic lines to promote growth in Christian unity, greater interfaith understanding, and ministry to all Gods people.
