Free Citizenship Test Preparation Classes

We provide citizenship classes to immigrants and refugees who have an interest in becoming  American citizens, whether they are just gathering information, have a pending application, or have secured a citizenship interview. Students study questions for the U.S. Naturalization Exam as they practice their English skills for their interview.

Welcoming the Stranger's online and in-person classes are open to immigrants and refugees eighteen years of age and older who live in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania, and Burlington, Hunterdon and Mercer Counties in New Jersey, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or national origin.

As of December 2024, 371 people have become citizens through our program.

What Our Students Are Saying

Yudelvy S., Dominican Republic

I started with Welcoming the Stranger in 2015 in Morrisville PA, where I found an amazing group that became my family. In 2017 I took Citizenship classes with Debby Hoffman and became a US citizen. She answered questions. She explained everything and she did not hurry. It helped me to understand American government, culture, and politics. Debby gave me confidence.

Sergei and Irena T, Russia

We want to be part of this country and vote, so we applied for our citizenship. Our home is here now, close to our children. This is a frustrating journey, and we were old when we started it, but it is so good to be members of U.S. society and to have our teacher Bill as a member of our family now!

Victoria I., Belarus

I am very grateful to all my wonderful teachers. John Davison was my citizenship teacher. He is an extraordinary teacher. He passed on his love for our country to his students. I am now a US citizen.I have beenstudying with Nancy Miller for several years now. Thanks to her, I am starting to speak and understand English.
